Kim Skillin Traina has been creating design collateral and innovative marketing strategies for over 30 years.
an introductionA graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University with majors in visual design and photography, my career began at New England Electric System in 1979, where I created corporate presentations for senior management and produced trade show and permanent exhibit installations.
In 1986, I formed KS Design. For the next 10 years, I was educated, enlightened and challenged by a wide variety of projects for corporate clients including utilities, law firms, hospitals, biotechnology start-ups, design-build, and engineering firms. My adventures included creating courtroom presentations for high profile cases in Boston to helping Seabrook Station in N.H. get licensed to produce nuclear power. The media ranged from creating visitor center and trade show exhibits to print materials, sales and educational presentations, signage and photography.
In 1996, I moved home to Maine. I continued to service a select few clients from the corporate world and concentrated on working with smaller businesses, non-profits and new entrepreneurs. Now settled in midcoast Maine, my business continues to grow and thrive.
Communication skills, thinking visually and creative problem solving are my strengths. Working as a team, the process starts with questioning, listening, brainstorming... I then form a visual solution that pull all the facets together. The process for me is energizing... working as a team, gaining insight, building a relationship and seeing a solution take shape. Trust, flexibility and commitment factor into long term relationships with both customers and vendors.
I am passionate about communication, color and design. My listening skills, thorough investigation and intuition help me create visual solutions that express the uniqueness of a business, illustrate a concept to educate, motivate or tell a story and establish market awareness for a variety of clients.
What keeps my skills fresh is continually meeting new businesses that add to the variety of experiences I've been exposed to...each in itself is unique, yet add to the well which I actively draw on.
